When is the best time for a child to start seeing a dentist?
We suggest starting a child’s regular dental visits at age one. Early detection of tooth decay is the best prevention for future problems. These visits also let the child get used to going to the dentist at an early age so that we can create a happy and positive experience for a lifetime.
What is periodontal disease?
Periodontitis is the serious and advanced stage of gum disease, which includes bone loss. The gum tissue and bone that surround and support your teeth could become seriously damaged and the teeth affected could become loose and fall out. Periodontitis occurs when the early stage of periodontal disease—gingivitis—is left untreated.
How do I know if I am brushing and flossing correctly?
Brushing and flossing properly is the best way to care for your teeth, and many people aren’t sure of the correct way to do it. If you are not sure about your brushing and flossing technique, please ask us at your next visit. We would be happy to show you the correct way to keep those pearly whites healthy.
What is the purpose of fluoride?
Plaque bacteria and sugars submit your teeth to acid attacks which breakdown the minerals in your teeth. If enough minerals are not replaced through food and water consumption your teeth will decay. Fluoride helps to strengthen your teeth against this demineralization.
